PREMISE & ARRIVAL
Premise...
Welcome, Seyntes and Sinners. Welcome, countrymen and neighbors. Welcome, for tomorrow is not guaranteed unless we grasp it and hold it firmly in our hands.

Characters awaken in the city of Divinitas*, a small Medieval city protected by fortified walls and overlooked by a massive fortress. Naturally, there are no clues to how they got here or why, but they have one thing in common: they have all the inexplicable ability to do a single minor miracle. The locals** see these gifts with awe and reverence and recognize them for what they are sure they must be: incontrovertible proof that the new arrivals are Seyntes, come to save them and bring them closer to the divine.

There is, of course, one minor problem: everyone knows Seyntes are dead.

As characters die*** and are reborn, their grasp on Divinity grows. And the more Divine they become, the more of their humanity they seem to lose. In the meantime, they are expected to live among the people and learn about the society they will one day come to protect. But there is more than meets the eye about the city and its people, and the path of Divinity is not the only choice. Characters may find themselves instead drawn by the strange howling in the forest and the promise of a more primal power.

* Despite all attempts to the contrary, the locals still call the town in equal measure Geldenberg or Geldry.

** At least the religious ones, which are the only ones who seem to count in the eyes of the Law, which is also religious.

*** With perhaps a little help from their new-found and otherwise quite pleasant neighbors and friends.
Welcome to Divinitas!
Upon arrival (unfortunately naked! no one has figured out how to fix that!), characters are bathed, clothed, and fed and asked to perform their newfound miracle. This explanation is somewhat rushed, the side-effect of having given it far too many times before and forgetting that newcomers have never heard it. Characters who had powers before will find that those are presently inaccessible and the only thing they can manage to do is their new (extremely minor) miracle. Players must choose an initial miracle when they join. These miracles are low stakes but obvious: repairing bed sheets; boots magically lacing on command; standing in the rain without getting wet. Despite the sheer mundanity of the spectacle, characters are regarded as Divine and revered and respected by the locals.

The standard introductory speech hits the following points: Divinitas is a landlocked City-State surrounded by larger, hungrier states that do not attack it thanks to the Grace of God (and/or the fact they are all mutually part of an empire and would forfeit their vassalages if they attacked one another). Divinitas is deeply religious. In fact, it is ruled by a Prince-Archbishop and has been for many years. The current Prince-Archbishop is Alexandria, the First of Their Name. They are considered just and perfectly Divine by the locals. (As they are quick to point out, some Prince-Archbishops are more Divine than others and they are all lucky to have gotten such a good one after the last Crisis of Succession. But that is not to worry about!) The Prince-Archbishop occasionally entertains an audience with the Seyntes, so they are sure to meet them in no time.

The fortress, though giant, is mostly empty save for the servants running it. Characters are taken down the hill and into the City, where they are given a home of their very own, which may be a standalone single story home near the edges of the City or a floor of the more modern three and four story buildings in the City Center. Either way, they are promised that anything they need will be taken care of. The grocer will give them free groceries, the innkeeper free beer, the butcher free meat—within reason, of course, as temperance and humility are of course Virtues. Character are encouraged to get to know life in the City and their neighbors so that they have a better sense of those they will one day protect. (From whom? They never really say.) Once they are settled in, the servants leave them to their own devices.

Characters are free to choose their own lodgings, establish business, explore the City, or even the Forest beyond without consequence. Players are encourage to submit descriptions of any relevant NPCS here so that others can reference them.
How Does This Work?
Mostly on vibes, really! This is a glorified PSL or a really basic game, however you want to look at it. The community is here to play around in the setting with friends and have fun, with some occasion plot posts to give a little extra flavor to the story. There is no activity requirement of any kind, but please let us know on the cast page if you are switching up characters or want to drop one so we can have clear records.
